Nickelle A. Kellough, O.D., is a licensed and board-certified optometric physician with Eye Surgery Associates in Broward County. She performs comprehensive ocular examinations as well as diagnoses and treats ocular conditions such as conjunctivitis and iritis. She has been trained to diagnose, manage and treat open-angle glaucoma with topical therapeutic privileges. Dr. Kellough also has experience diagnosing Age-Related Macular Degeneration, cataracts, certain corneal dystrophies and retinal disorders including diabetic and hypertensive retinopathies and Retinitis Pigmentosa. She works in conjunction with Eye Surgery Associates’ ophthalmology specialists to meet the needs of patients when surgery is indicated for cosmetic, cataract, refractive, glaucoma or a retinal disorder.
Growing up in Broward County, Dr. Kellough graduated from Coral Springs High School. She was awarded the FL Academic Scholarship to the University of Florida where she completed most of her pre-optometry course work. She then was accepted to Nova Southeastern’s Optometry school where she received her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science, then her Doctorate of Optometry in 2000.
While finishing her Doctorate of Optometry degree, she completed internship and externships throughout Florida including Bascom Palmer where she performed low vision exams. She completed a rotation at University of FL Shands Eye Clinic learning difficult contact lens fittings and attended lectures with ophthalmology residents and surgeons. In addition, Dr. Kellough externed at the Gainesville, FL VA Hospital conducting comprehensive eye examinations including pre- and post-operative cataract patients, diabetics and patients with glaucoma and Age-Related Macular Degeneration. She worked closely with corneal, retinal and glaucoma specialists learning valuable management and treatment philosophies. Finally, she completed her externship in Jacksonville, FL at Liane Downtown Eye Associates, where she provided ocular examinations to pediatric and geriatric patients, as well as, managed and treated glaucoma, and performed pre-op and post-operative LASIK and cataract exams.
Since graduation from NSU College of Optometry in 2000, Dr. Kellough has worked in Florida in private as well as commercial optometric settings. In January 2013, she has happily joined in Eye Surgery Associates in her hometown of Broward County.
Dr. Kellough is married to Carlos Menendez, a regional oncogenomic liaison for Genomic Health, and they have 3 sons. They reside in Davie. When not working in the office, she enjoys watching her sons’ sports, cooking Puerto Rican cuisine for friends and family and exercising.
